Delta Downs’ racing office saw a flurry of activity on Monday morning as final entries and post positions were drawn for Saturday’s $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot (Gr. III). The 2-1 morning line favorite for the 13th running of the track’s signature event is this year’s Saratoga Special (Gr. II) winner Exaggerator, from the barn of J. Keith Desormeaux. A total of 10 talented 2-year-olds were entered for the 1-1/16 mile race.

The 7-2 second choice in the morning line for Saturday’s showdown is Sunny Ridge, who is trained by Jason Servis. The son of Holy Bull won the Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park before finishing second to Greenpointcrusader in the Champagne Stakes (Gr. I) at Belmont Park in his most recent start.

Doug O’Neill, who saddled Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner I’ll Have Another in 2012, will attempt to become the first trainer to win multiple $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot races when he sends out Found Money, who recently finished second in the Golden State Juvenile at Del Mar. In 2012 O’Neill traveled to Louisiana with Goldencents, who won the race in wire-to-wire fashion before scoring three grade I victories and earning more than $3 million during his illustrious career.

The $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot is the centerpiece of an 11-race program that will feature eight stakes races, two graded stakes, and over $2.3 million in total purse money.
