ENTRY BOX FILLS NICELY FOR FIRST TWO DAYS

LOPEZ ANSWERS EMERGENCY CALL AS STARTER

John Lopez, who filled in for Gary Brinson as race starter in 2012 when family duties called Brinson away, has been called to service again this summer.

Jay Slender, who was scheduled for his first summer season as starter, has been sidelined with health issues and Lopez was the obvious immediate choice as replacement. Slender will have surgery on Thursday and could return during the meeting if sufficiently recovered.
