National Treasure, who has placed in three graded-stakes races on the West Coast, led 10 Kentucky Derby prospects who worked Monday morning. He worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Santa Anita for trainer Bob Baffert.
A son of Quality Road, National Treasure placed second in the American Pharoah (G1) and third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and the Sham (G3). Triple Crown nomination rules stipulate that a horse must be under the care of an eligible trainer by Feb. 28 to begin earning points.
