2023 Kentucky Derby
Mage was the only runner in the 2023 Kentucky Derby who proceeded to the Preakness. He broke better than he had in his previous two starts but nonetheless could not reel in National Treasure and Blazing Sevens. After settling for third in the Preakness, he will get a brief refresher before a summer campaign targeting the Grade 1 Travers.
Even though Mage will not run in the Belmont, the Kentucky Derby field will be well represented in the final jewel of the Triple Crown. Horses from the run for the roses who may turn up in the test of the champion include Tapit Trice, Raise Cain, Sun Thunder, Reincarnate and Kingsbarns. Forte, who was scratched from the Kentucky Derby on the morning of the race, also is pointed to the Belmont.
Trainer Larry Rivelli is still deciding the next spot for Two Phil's, second in the Kentucky Derby, though possibilities include the Ohio Derby (G3), the Belmont and the Matt Winn (G3).

2022 Kentucky Derby
Tiz the Bomb returned Saturday in the Louisville (G3) at Churchill Downs, running fifth behind Foreign Relations. It was his fifth start of the year, all of which have come on turf, and he has yet to finish better than fourth as a 4-year-old.
Happy Jack made his 4-year-old debut May 14 in an allowance optional claiming race at Churchill, going six furlongs on dirt. He rallied late to capture second, a length behind He'smyhoneybadger.
Taiba has not raced since running eighth in the Saudi Cup on Feb. 25, though he is actively working and might race next in the Met Mile (G1) on June 10.
Rattle N Roll, who scratched from the 2022 Kentucky Derby, continues his ascent in the handicap division. He won the Ben Ali (G2) on April 22 and Keeneland, then returned just as sharp when he won the Pimlico Special (G3) on the Black-Eyed Susan undercard.

2021 Kentucky Derby
Two members of the Kentucky Derby class of 2021 raced recently in allowance company. Hidden Stash contested a 1 1/8-mile race on the Churchill Downs lawn Friday. He set the early pace and dug in to hold third behind Risk Manager and Price Talk. Bourbonic tried the turf in a 1 1/16-mile race at Belmont on May 11. Settled last of five, he had no response when asked, was eased in the lane and walked off.
