When it comes to Horse Racing Nation handicapper Ed DeRosa's process, it is more about who can win versus who will win, which is why he compiled fair odds and analyses for 10 of the Breeders' Cup races this weekend at Keeneland.
Fair odds differ from the morning line in that they are one handicapper's (or data model's) assessment of the chance each horse has to win. These odds add up to 100 percent. The morning line is a handicapper's assessment of how the race will be bet. That typically adds to 120-130 percent to account for takeout.
In the Breeders' Cup Classic, Ed notes, the question is not whether Flightline will be favored but just how big a favorite the undefeated, three-time Grade 1 winner will be.
