Horse racing’s loveable rogue, Bodexpress  who was last seen cruising around Pimlico’s main track without jockey John Velazquez – will try once again to record his first career victory when he enters the starting gate on Monday at Gulfstream Park West.

The 3-year-old son of Bodemeister, who is winless in seven starts, will this time be expected to carry Emisael Jaramillo in Race 2, a $44,000 maiden special weight event for 3-year-olds and up going one mile and 70 yards.

Bodexpress gained national notoriety due to his Preakness escapade. The flashy bay colt reared up when the starting gate opened, throwing jockey the Hall of Famer Velazquez in the process. He then proceeded to run in tandem with the Preakness field, and avoided being caught by an outrider until he had completed more than a full circuit of the racetrack.

Bodexpress is trained by Gustavo Delgado and is campaigned by Top Racing and Global Thoroughbred along with Delgado's GDS Racing Stable.

Before the Preakness, Bodexpress was placed 13th in the Kentucky Derby and finished second to Maximum Security in the Florida Derby (G1). In an indication of his talent, Bodexpress ran second by a neck on Feb. 16 in his last try in he maiden ranks to Shancelot, who has since emerged as a top 3-year-old sprinter.

Bodexpress will be racing for the second time at Gulfstream Park West having debuted there on Nov. 24, 2018. Post time for Monday's race is 1:29 p.m. ET with Bodexpress breaking from post 3 in a field of six.
