Even though rain remains a possibility for Saturday's Belmont Stakes, the chance of rain continues to diminish as the race date gets closer.

As of 9:28 a.m. EDT on Friday, the National Weather Service forecasted a 20 percent chance of showers after 2:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday. That 20 percent chance of rain continues into the evening.

The National Weather Service predicts a high near 78 on Saturday, with partly sunny skies, and a northeast wind between six and eight miles per hour.

Belmont's stakes-laden weekend of races began Thursday and continues through Friday. Friday is expected to be sunny with a high near 81 and a west wind between 11 and 16 miles per hour.
