With Belmont Stakes 2016 coming up this weekend, take a look back at some of the impressive records set during Belmont history.

Winningest Jockeys: Eddie Arcaro and Jim McLaughlin both won the Belmont Stakes six times. Arcaro’s mounts include Whirlaway (1941), Shut Out (1942), Pavot (1945), Citation (1948), One Count (1952), and Nashua (1955). McLaughlin rode Forester (1882), George Kinney (1883), Panique (1884), Inspector B (1886), Hanover (1887), and Sir Dixon (1888).


Winningest Trainer: James G. Rowe, Sr. teamed up with the top owners and jockeys to train eight Belmont Stakes winners, those horses being George Kinney, Panique, Commando (1901), Delhi (1904), Peter Pan (1907), Colin (1908), Sweep (1910), and Prince Eugene (1913).


Winningest Owners: Belair Stud and James R. Keene tie with six Belmont victories. Belair Stud owned Gallant Fox (1930), Faireno (1932), Omaha (1935), Granville (1936), Johnstown (1939), and Nashua. Keene’s horses were Spendthrift (1879), Commando, Delhi, Peter Pan, Colin, and Sweep.


Fastest Time: Since 1973, no other horse has come close to topping Secretariat’s record time of 2:24 flat.


Biggest Winning Margin: Secretariat also holds this record, dominating by 31 lengths.


Highest Attendance: The largest crowd for the Belmont Stakes was in 2004 when 120,139 people witnessed Birdstone steal Triple Crown glory from Smarty Jones.
