Veteran jockey Albarado out indefinitely with broken wrist

Jockey Robby Albarado will be off his mounts indefinitely after fracturing his left wrist when he was unseated Sunday at Churchill Downs, agent Jake Romans informed the track's publicity staff.

Albarado was riding 2-year-old Dale Romans trainee Dennis' Moment in a maiden special weight race going five furlongs on Churchill’s main track.

Albarado and Dennis’ Moment were moving along the rail when rival Two Chips drifted in enough for the two colts to make contact. Dennis’ Moment unseated Albarado, who didn’t ride any of the day’s remaining races.

Albarado’s been aboard 257 starters in 2019. His mounts this year have earned 15 victories and $1,015,203 in prize money.

For his career, Albarado has ridden 5,187 winners and earned $218,380,024. The Lafayette, La., native's notable mounts include Breeders’ Cup winners Court Vision, Tapitsfly and Curlin, who also scored with Albarado aboard in the 2007 Preakness Stakes.
