Del Mar analysis by handicapper Jarrod Horak

Sunday, December 2
Race 5 (Starter Allowance, 8T)
Post Time 5:30 PM ET

Primary - #2 BLITZKRIEG, #9 Bahamian
Secondary - #1 Worthy Turk, #8 Foxtail, #6 Offshore, #5 East Rand, #10 Kris’ Wild Kat
Wagers: #2 to win, Trifecta 2-8-9-10/1-5-6/1-5-6

Analysis: #2 Blitzkrieg (3-1) dropped in for a tag and rolled to a sharp $50k maiden win at this course/distance Nov 23, and that was the first time he relaxed and finished. Prat rides back and he should be competitive in this spot. #9 Bahamian (8-1) exits a 5f maiden claiming turf score in his first start after the Cerin claim Nov 10. They had high hopes for this one last year (ran in G1 Champagne & G1 BC Juvenile) and he might be able to step up and win again. #1 Worthy Turk (7-2) had no excuse running 3rd as the beaten favorite vs. this kind Nov 11. Rosario rides for Miller and a ground saving stalking trip is expected. #8 Foxtail (6-1) owns early-pressing versatility and Irad Ortiz Jr. is a fine turf rider. She fits well in this race. #6 Offshore (8-1) needs pace to chase and might improve in his second start after the Baltas claim. Jose Ortiz takes the call. #5 East Rand (8-1) hit the board in 3 of 4 local turf starts and might be able to rally for a share. #10 Kris’ Wild Kat (8-1) is on the improve for Baltas and he beat Bahamian down the hill Oct 12. He tries two turns and should show speed.
