Saratoga's Grade 1, $500,000 Test Stakes brings together nine 3-year-old fillies sprinting seven furlongs. And with the race part of the NYRA Bets Late Pick 5, as well as other multi-race wagers, here's some advice on a horse to use on our tickets -- plus one to lose.

If you like what you see, my full card analysis is available at

Use: #4 Classy Act

This filly is progressing with every start. She had a easy allowance win at Churchill two back, then ran her eyeballs out in the Victory Ride at Belmont. She was part of the pace that day, in a race that completely fell apart. She was the only horse still hanging around at the end and was nailed by a longshot on the inside who I don’t believe she saw.  This jockey-trainer combo already has a stakes win at the meet. I think this filly could be sitting on a career-best effort.

Lose: #6 Seperationofpowers

She was also in the Victory Ride last time out when she finished fourth. Separationofpowers did not break well that day, but she was with the race flow for the rest of the way. She did rally, but I think she will be over-bet Saturday facing much better horses. If she’s sent to the lead, she will be in trouble with Mia Mischief also looking to set the pace.

It's a short field in Saturday's Grade 3, $150,000 Los Alamitos Derby. With just five in the West Coast feature, it's still play-able given the favorite looks vulnerable, and my win choice is 3-1 on the morning line.

Here are the top contenders -- and if you like what you see, my full card analysis is available at

#1 Draft Pick comes into this race off an easy win in Santa Anita’s Grade 3 Affirmed. He looks to be a 3-year-old on the come up. It took him five starts to break the maiden, but he has turned into a new horse. Has run two times over this track before, both resulting in third-place finishes. Should sit a good trip behind the speed.

#3 Ax Man is the one to catch in here for Bob Baffert. His last race was a toss in my mind, as it was very hot that night at Churchill Downs for the Grade 3 Matt Winn. I don’t trust him to win going two turns, and Los Alamitos has a lengthy stretch.

#2 Blended Citizen, who ran in the Belmont Stakes last out, will be over-bet in this race because of his running lines. He won the Grade 3 Peter Pan two back, but that race fell apart. Has to beat me.

The New York circuit is where Levitch focuses most of his attention, often playing Pick 4s and Pick 5s. His daily handicapping sheets, available at, offer analysis on his top three choices as well as wagering strategies to play them.
