The Derby Wars Saturday $10,000 Sam Davis Day game features a total of 11 races from Aqueduct and Tampa Bay Downs with four graded stakes from New York and Florida including the $250,000 Sam F. Davis (G3) and $250,000 Withers (G3) on the Kentucky Derby trail.
The game costs $230 with players allowed to buy up to three entries. A field size of 50 will produce the $10,000 prize pool. In addition to the cash prizes, the top four finishers also receive a token to play in next Saturday’s $4,000 game.
Players will pick one horse from each race with scoring based on the $2 track payouts for win, place, and show. The game begins with race 7 at Tampa at 2:49 pm EST and ends on race 12 from Tampa at 5:32 pm EST. Aqueduct races 5-9 are part of the game.
This is a big money game with a moderate-sized field, so just one good price or two medium prices and players have a good chance to be near the top of the leaderboard.
Entries with the morning-line odds are available for Tampa and Aqueduct.
Here is a list of value horses to consider when you are playing the $10,000 game.
Aqueduct, race 5 – Posse Can Disco (10-1) did not care for the muddy track last time and now drops into the right kind of spot.
Aqueduct, race 6 – Production Credit (30-1) gets Lasix for the first and moves into a NY-bred maiden claimer for the first time.
Tampa, race 8 – The Tampa Bay (G3), which drew a field of 12 turf horses, looks like a race that will have a longshot winner. Atone (15-1) is two for two since moving to the turf with excellent Godolphin bloodlines. Admission Office (6-1) has a class edge over most of this field. Talk Or Listen (15-1) won at Tampa last race after a winning stakes in France.
Tampa, race 9 – In the Suncoast, Honorifique (7-2) has improved speed figures in all five starts.
Aqueduct, race 8 – In the Withers (G3), the likely favorite Capo Kane may get pace pressure. Overtook (6-1) won his maiden race at Aqueduct and will come running late.
Tampa, race 10 – The Endeavour (G3) is another turf stake but his race has a smaller field. New York Girl (4-1) made a winning American debut at Gulfstream Park and she is a Grade 3 winner in Ireland.
Tampa, race 11 – Known Agenda (6-1) is a standout in the Sam F. Davis (G3) but is more likely to be closer to 3-1.
