Lebron J, the horse, already settled in Los Angeles

Before NBA free agency brought LeBron James to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, horse racing's equivalent, the 2-year-old sales, introduced a colt by a similar name to trainer Doug O'Neill's Southern California barn.

Phoenix Thoroughbreds, which also campaigns Gronkowski, named another of its hulking colts after a famous athlete and sent $1.2 million purchase Lebron J to O'Neill in May.

The son of Medaglia d'Oro, out of a Tapit mare, posted his first three-furlong workout on June 25 and was scheduled for another drill Monday morning.

O'Neill, of course, won the Kentucky Derby in 2012 (I'll Have Another) and 2016 (Nyquist). Could he have another future star on his hands? The main ingredient -- brother Dennis O'Neill's keen eye at the sales ring -- remains consistent.

And, also important to the sport, can Lebron J lure his namesake out to Santa Anita Park upon his arrival in Los Angeles?
