#10 Nolde (8-1) is 2-for-2 in one mile turf races for John Shirreffs. Let’s see if he can become the third stakes winner from that productive Feb 2 maiden race in the slop at Santa Anita (he ran 3rd). The winner of that race was Omaha Beach, and he took the Rebel (G2) and Arkansas Derby (G1) this spring. Runner-up One Bad Boy won the Queen’s Plate a few weeks ago. An outside stalking trip is expected.
#3 Jasikan (9-5) broke slow in both United States starts, but that did not stop him from winning as the chalk in an optional claiming event May 27. Flavien Prat ends up here, and he cannot afford to make any mistakes in this event.
#4 Legends of War (6-1) hit the board in all three US starts. He stretches back out and might be the one to catch. I like that clear 2nd behind Listing last time, and that runner came back to win the Quick Call (G3) at Saratoga last week.
#8 Gregorian Chant (7-2) removes blinkers and cuts back a furlong. The lightly raced sophomore won his first two starts and might be able to bounce back after losing for the first time June 2.
