Wednesday's Best Bet: Lil Commissioner a big contender at Saratoga

Wednesday’s 8th race from Saratoga is a $74,000 allowance event for 3-year-olds and up traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track (Post Time - 4:46 p.m. ET).

#4 LIL COMMISSIONER (5-2) exits back-to-back wins, and the clear runner-up finisher from his last returned to score. I like his running style versatility in a race that lacks a true front runner, and he should make his presence felt throughout under Ortiz Jr.

#7 Candy Tycoon (7-2) stumbled at the start and never got involved in the Peter Pan (G3) July 16. He showed nice early interest in a pair of maiden races at Gulfstream over the winter, and stalked and finished a solid 2nd in a sophomore optional claiming route at Oaklawn May 2. He is a contender if he breaks alertly and attends the pace.

#2 Forza Di Oro (9-2) ran well without much pace help in his first two outings at Belmont Park last fall, and went to the sidelines after finishing up the track in the Remsen (G2). Bill Mott’s promising colt has multiple bullets in his holster and could easily return running.

#3 Liveyourbeastlife (4-1) earned his best carer number in his longest race to date July 2. He has now run six times, and his only two top three finishers were at Belmont Park.

#8 Singapore Trader (5-1) added blinkers and landed the show in his last pair, including a decent prominent throughout effort vs. $25k claimers at this course/distance July 18. He ran well in all three local outings but is 0-for-4 with a pair of show finishes at this distance.

#6 Hunt the Front (8-1) has plenty of stamina but no speed. He was overmatched in the Blue Grass (G2) last time, and can come running for a small slice.

#5 Unrighteous (10-1) removes blinkers and can navigate the distance. His two poor route efforts this year were both in the graded ranks. He needs to run faster to compete for a major award.

#1 My First Grammy (30-1) is an 0-for-7 maiden returning to dirt. He was well beaten in his last four starts and seems overmatched.
