Wednesday's Best Bet: Final Cut can complete hat trick at Churchill

November 05, 2019 05:36pm

Wednesday’s 9th race from Churchill Downs is a $97,000 entry level allowance event for fillies and mares traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track (Post Time - 5:06 p.m. ET).

#6 FINAL CUT (3-1) lost her first ten starts, and has now won two straight dirt routes after that slow start to her career. She showed nice tactical speed in back-to-back slow early/fast late races at Indiana Grand and Keeneland, and the same race shape is present on Wednesday. I am looking for the improving sophomore filly to step up and pull off the hat trick.

#3 Lemon Chill (5-2) might not get enough pace help, but she returns to the scene of her sharp maiden win, and the added distance helps.

#1 Saracosa (2-1) is the morning line favorite. She is 1-for-11 with eight minor awards, and she has finished 2nd or 3rd in five of seven starts vs. this kind. She hit the board in all three local starts and looks like a good bet underneath.

Wagers:
