Tuesday's Best Bet: Son of Eleanor the one to catch at Turf Paradise

January 08, 2019 09:00pm
Tuesday’s eighth race from Turf Paradise is a starter optional claiming event for 4-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time 6 p.m. ET).

#9 SON OF ELEANOR (8-1) was nabbed out of his last by sharp trainer Keven Eikleberry, and Scott Stevens wins races with this barn. He was part of the exacta in seven of ten local turf tries, including a strong second from post 10 on Nov. 17. He could not keep up with above-par fractions last time and might be able to clear and cross over today.

#6 Factored In (3-1) won his last three local turf starts, and he took those races in front-running fashion Dec. 18, stalking the pace Nov. 26, and closing from eighth place on Nov. 3. He has been popular at the claim box recently and could easily make it four straight.

#5 Ride Hard Kowboy (7-2) stalked the pace and landed the show in his last three turf starts at Turf Paradise. Stevens abandons for my top choice, but his new pilot, Rigo Sarmiento, wins races with Jose Silva.

#2 Bourque (5-2) ran well without winning in his last four local turf starts. He tried front running, stalking, and closing tactics, and he came up short each time. He is probably a bigger threat underneath.
