Tuesday's Best Bet: Chilly In Charge can take over in Parx Fall Derby

October 07, 2019 07:16pm

Tuesday’s 8th race from Parx is the $75,000 Parx Fall Derby for 3-year-olds traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time 4:04 p.m. ET).

#5 CHILLY IN CHARGE (9-2) is back in a route after a rallying place finish in the Allied Forces at six furlongs on turf Sept. 8. He should be much closer to the pace this time under his new rider Joe Bravo, and he has really gotten good recently.

#7 Epic Bromance (6-1) won both of his Monmouth Park turf routes. He rallied for the victory in his July 28 bow, and he went all the way Aug. 31 under Tuesday’s rider Paco Lopez. He can threaten these with another forward move.

#6 English Bee (9-5) tracked a slow pace and just held off Jais’s Solitude in the Virginia Derby (G3) Aug. 31. He won’t be quite as close to the pace in this spot, but he should still be within striking range throughout. He won the non-graded James Murphy Stakes at this distance May 18.

#9 The Last Zip (3-1) is probably the one to catch, and this is his first non-graded attempt since his maiden win at one mile on turf June 14. Trevor McCarthy wins races with Michael Stidham. He is still eligible for an entry level allowance race after eight starts.
