Thursday's Best Bet: Victory awaits The Cairo Kid at Laurel

Thursday’s 8th race from Laurel Park is an optional claiming event for 3-year-olds and up dashing six furlongs on the main track (Post Time 3:53 p.m. ET).

#2 THE CAIRO KID (7-2) sat behind dueling leaders in a similar local sprint Oct. 23, but the speed kept going and he missed the place by a nose. He won back-to-back races at this distance before his last and I like his early-pressing versatility.

#8 Nomo Ron (5-1) showed nice late interest in his last pair including a course/distance victory in his first start after the Farrior claim Oct. 15. He likes this distance and can make some noise if the pace heats up.

#3 Stroll Smokin (5-2) dueled and ended up a nose in front of The Cairo Kid last time. The early-pressing type likes this course and distance and is entered for the $35k tag.

#6 Hold Me Black (3-1) remains above his $32k claimed price for Gonzalez. He had an uncomfortable trip Oct. 30 and was fairly consistent before that effort. He might bounce back.
