Thursday’s 7th race from Laurel Park is an optional claiming event for 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the main track (Post Time 4:19 p.m. ET).
#3 UNMATCHABLE (6-1) took a shot in the stakes ranks when he raced for Steve Asmussen, and he briefly chased the pace before fading to last in the Ack Ack (G3) last year. He moved to the Michael Trombetta barn and returned with a sharp $25k claiming sprint win at Delaware Park Sept. 19, and that was his first outing in more than nine months. He is 2-for-3 at one mile and I like his tactical speed.
#6 Galerio (7-2) has turned into a win type this year with six wins and a trio of runner-up finishes from ten outings. He is sharp and versatile and should make his presence felt throughout.
#2 Thundershook (5-2) captured seven of his last ten starts including three straight tallies in the starter allowance ranks. The sharp gelding has a nose for the wire and figures to stalk the pace.
#4 Toughest ‘Ombre (7-2) fired exacta shots in his last four starts. Dale Capuano claimed him for $25k Aug. 22, and he finished 2nd in both starts since. The versatile 7-year-old gelding is two for his last twenty with eleven minor awards, and he might be best used underneath.
#3 to win
