Thursday’s 8th race from Keeneland is an $86,000 entry level allowance event for three-year-olds and up dashing seven furlongs on the main track (Post Time 4:44 p.m. EDT).
No. 8 TULANE TRYST (4-1) improved his speed ratings in his first three starts, and was given a breather after finishing up the track in the Woody Stephens (G1). He drilled a local bullet for this Sept. 26 and figures to stalk wide.
No. 6 Olympiad (3-1) broke his maiden at seven panels in his second career start last year, and he returned with a clear runner-up finish at Saratoga Sept. 4. Bill Mott’s $700k colt could easily move forward in his second start of the year under his new pilot Flavien Prat.
No. 5 Milliken (9-2) stalked the pace and ran off the screen in his Ellis Park debut at this distance Aug. 29. Ian Wilkes has decent stats with his recent graduates trying winners for the first time.
No. 9 Bears Watching (4-1) chased outside and rolled to a big maiden win at seven furlongs March 13, and was a flat 5th as the beaten favorite Sept. 16. He should be fitter in his second start after a layoff.
No. 2 Santa Cruiser (15-1) is a competent late running sprinter and this is his first start as a gelding. He reconnects with his winning rider James Graham and he might be able to spice up the exotics.
Also-eligible No. 14 Ducale (7-2) earned a quality speed rating in his maiden win at this trip. He should attend the pace if he draws in.
