Thursday’s eighth race at Churchill Downs is an entry level allowance event with a purse of $127,000 for 3-year-olds and up traveling 1 1/2 miles on the turf course. The scheduled post time is 8:23 p.m. EDT.

No. 7 Swore (2-1) kicked away in a strong maiden win at this distance on turf as the overwhelming favorite at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 3. Graham Motion has decent stats with his recent graduates trying winners for the first time.

No. 5 Tulchan (10-1) is interesting for quality conditioner Arnaud Delacour. He fired trifecta shots in all five starts and should work out a decent tactical trip at square odds.

No. 1 Clever Thought (7-2) goes back on Lasix in his third start after a layoff. The sophomore colt attempts a longer distance and will try to get involved late.

No. 2 Hilliard (4-1) missed by a nose in an allowance turf route at Kentucky Downs last time. The stretch runner has not won in quite some time and might be best used underneath.
