Thursday's Best Bet: Quiet Imagination can make some noise at Laurel

Thursday’s 9th race from Laurel Park is a $35,000 allowance event for fillies and mares dashing six furlongs on the main track (Post Time 4:40 p.m. ET).

#3 QUIET IMAGINATION (3-1) might be better than these. The sharp sophomore filly fired exacta shots in all six starts at this distance. Her last win was under Thursday’s rider Trevor McCarthy at this trip at Delaware Park July 25. I like her consistency and running style versatility.

#2 Coconut Cake (9-5) is lightly raced and on the upswing. She exits back-to-back wins including a local off the turf sprint at 5.5 furlongs Aug. 22, and the show finisher was a next-out winner. It remains to be seen if she is better on turf or dirt, and the price figures to be skimpy.

#4 Elegant Gal (6-1) flees the rail and might be in for the right outside stalking trip under her winning rider Forest Boyce.
