Thursday's Best Bet: Miss Indefatigable might get brave at Santa Anita

October 09, 2019 08:50pm

Thursday’s 7th race from Santa Anita Park is a $50,000 maiden special weight event for California-bred fillies and mares traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time - 7:13 p.m. ET).

#4 Miss Indefatigable (6-1) is almost certainly the one to catch, and we will find out if she can go two turns today. Her last turf sprint start was definitely a step in the right direction, and she has some route influences in her pedigree.

#8 Doc Yco Cheeks (3-1) took money, had a troubled beginning, and rallied to miss by head in her turf route bow October 2018. She has been shelved for quite some time, and Peter Eurton shows a +ROI with 90+ day layoff runners. Dam has produced two turf winners and Rafael Bejarano rides back.

#1 Y Not Sizzle (7-2) loves earning minor awards, or at least that’s the way it has gone after six outings (6 0-2-4). Recently hot rider Drayden Van Dyke hops aboard, and she should save ground stalking the pace. It’s not as if she hasn’t had that kind of trip before. She broke from inside post in three of her flat mile turf outings.

#3 Too Hot for Curlin (7-2) was the beaten favorite in both starts vs. this kind, and she ran okay in those races. Flavien Prat sticks with the late runner, and the fresh filly still has some upside.

#2 Our Romance (9-2) was a nose behind Y Not Sizzle last time, and she was 18-1 that day. She won’t be close to that price today, but does look like a contender for Geovanni Franco and Phil D’Amato.
