Thursday's Best Bet: Mainstay sustains speed in Schuylerville

Thursday’s 9th race from Saratoga is the Grade 3 Schuylerville for two-year-old fillies dashing six furlongs on the main track (Post Time 5:39 p.m. ET).

#2 MAINSTAY (7-2) was sharp throughout in her romping debut in the slop at Monmouth Park June 4. She is firing Parx bullets for this and might be the main speed at a distance that typically rewards early runners.

#1 Pretty Birdie (7-2) looked good wiring the field from a middle post in her Churchill Downs debut June 18. She meets other speed and might try to save ground chasing the pace under her new rider Luis Saez.

#7 Happy Soul (8-5) set the pace in the slop and was clearly second best in her bow, and was way too fleet for her rivals in her last pair at Belmont Park. The Astoria Stakes winner should make her presence felt throughout at underlaid odds.

#8 Eagle Express (10-1) fired in both starts at Lone Star Park including a maiden win as the favorite vs. restricted stakes foes June 13.

#9 Cartel Queen (12-1) adds blinkers after a stalk and pounce graduation run second time out under the Twin Spires. She sports back-to-back bullet workouts for this.

#4 Velvet Sister (8-1) is a $500k purchase exiting a romping debut victory vs. two opponents at Belmont Park.

#6 Queen Camilla (30-1) defeated Florida-bred company second time out at Gulfstream Park July 1. She should get pace to chase.

#3 Pipeline Girl (8-1) stalked and scored by a head in her Churchill debut June 25, and she is the only entrant with a victory at six furlongs.

#5 Saucy Lady T (30-1) showed marked improvement in her maiden win in the slop second time out. She needs to run faster to compete with these.

#2 to win
