#1 PRINCE EARL (12-1) showed plenty of ability in a very short time last year. The 4-year-old gelding could easily be better this year but might need the outing for Phil D’Amato. Geovanni Franco is 2-for-8 with this outfit and he should save ground stalking the pace. The price will be right.
#5 Bowies Hero (5-2) exits a sharp win in the Eddie Read (G2) at 9f, and his other six turf wins were at this distance. Flavien Prat rides back, and the 3-time local winner could easily make it two straight as the deserving favorite for Phil D'Amato.
#3 Majestic Eagle (12-1) fired trifecta shots in all five starts at this distance including a victory in the American Stakes (G3) June 23.
#7 Grecian Fire (6-1) got pace help in the California Dreamin' July 26, and he should be finishing again under Kent Desormeaux.
#10 Sharp Samurai (6-1) just does not seem to be as good this year. He might sit a good trip behind fast fractions under his new pilot Joe Talamo (5-for-10 with Mark Glatt).
