Sunday's Best Bet: Pawnee coast to coast at Santa Anita Park

Sunday's 8th race from Santa Anita Park is an optional claiming event for California-bred fillies and mares traveling one mile on the main track (Post Time 7:53 p.m. ET).

#6 PAWNEE (3-1) was not disgraced turning back in distance and finishing 4th in the Evening Jewel April 3. She romped in both starts with Umberto Rispoli in the saddle and is probably going to attempt a wire job, and I really do not see anyone with the ability to keep up with her early.

#4 Homehome (4-1) added blinkers and ran her best race in quite some time in a runner-up sprint finish April 11. I am not sure about two turns but she is trending the right way.

#2 Big Beauty (4-1) rallied for 2nd in her turf sprint bow and stretched out on the sod and stalked, pounced, and scored under Flavien Prat second time out. She was a flat 4th in her first start vs. winners March 19 and should be lurking in a good spot behind the speed if she handles dirt.

#7 Warrior’s Moon (7-2) finished 3rd in a couple of state bred stakes routes in 2019 but never really got back to that form in six subsequent starts. This is her first outing in 6+ months and she returns to dirt and will probably stalk outside.

#6 to win
