Sunday's Best Bet: Forever Liesl should offer value in Ladies Handicap

January 19, 2019 05:39pm

Sunday’s seventh race from Aqueduct is the $100,000 Ladies Handicap for fillies and mares traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track (Post Time - 3:58 p.m. ET).

#7 FOREVER LIESL (7-2) has much going for her in this spot including price potential. She is back around two turns in her second start after a layoff and was clearly second best in the Turnback the Alarm (G3) at this course/distance Nov. 3. I picked her on top in the Thirty Eight Go Go at Laurel last time and she had an uncomfortable trip that day. She is very dangerous on a wet track (100% chance of morning/early afternoon rain at Aqueduct on Sunday).

#5 Sara Street (7-5) is an early-pressing threat at low odds and there is not a ton of pace in the paper race. She is lightly raced, handles any footing, and likes this oval.

#4 Total Control (4-1) fired exacta shots in all six local tries and she handles a route of ground. She exits an okay 3rd in the aforementioned Thirty Eight Go Go and has every right to move forward in her second start after a layoff. She might be better on a fast track.

#2 Crimson Frost (9-2) is interesting if she can get the distance for Linda Rice (+ROI sprint/route). The late runner owns competitive numbers and handles any footing.
