No. 1 ECRIVAIN (4-1) rallied to finish a clear 3rd as the beaten favorite in his stateside bow at one mile on turf March 25, and was hung out to dry from post 14 in the San Francisco Mile (G3) April 30. He goes outside to inside and reconnects with Umberto Rispoli. He fired a bullet for this June 4.
No. 3 Vanzzy (7-2) has been a decent sort for quite some time. The 6-for-19 win type is sharp and fresh, and he drew well and figures to work out a decent tactical trip under his winning rider Joe Bravo. Dan Blacker is enjoying a profitable meet and he drilled a bullet for this May 28.
No. 2 Hong Kong Harry (4-1) won four of seven starts in Great Britain and shipped to the states this year and easily captured both local starts at nine panels for Phil D’Amato. He stalked, pounced, and pulled clear in his last pair, and the fresh gelding is a logical contender.
No. 9 Tripoli (4-1) upset the Pacific Classic (G1) last year and I am sure they would love to get him back to that race. He has stuck twice on turf but is faster on the main track. He has the class to win this but is probably heading back to the main track after this turf prep.
