Sunday's Best Bet: Cordiality back with friends in Fran's Valentine

May 11, 2019 10:24pm

Sunday’s seventh race from Santa Anita Park is the Fran's Valentine Stakes for California-bred fillies and mares traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time - 7:03 p.m. ET).

#1 CORDIALITY (3-1) exits a 5th place finish in a graded turf route in her first start for Tim Yakteen. She is back with state bred friends and has run races good enough to win this in the past.

#9 Gypsy Blu (5-2) is a razor sharp downhill specialist trying to navigate one mile. Since they are not running downhill sprints currently, this is the right time to see if she can go this far. Flavien Prat takes the call and she might take more money than she should.

#4 Queen Bee to You (4-1) scratched out of yesterday’s Santa Barbara (G3) at a mile and a half. That race would have been too far for her. This is a realistic placement, and the fairly consistent mare can finish somewhere in the top three.

#6 Fiery Lady (4-1) is back in a route after sprinting in her last three starts. She is 5-for-7 in turf routes and reconnects with winning rider Mike Smith. Barn is 0-for-18 in turf routes with nine minor awards.

#3 Pulpit Rider (12-1) cuts back a furlong and was right there at the finish in her last two turf starts at one mile.
