Sunday’s 3rd race from Santa Anita Park is the Grade 3 Daytona Stakes for four-year-olds and up dashing six and one-half furlongs on the turf course (Post Time 5:04 p.m. EDT).

No. 4 BRAN (8-5) ran well in four of five turf sprints in this country. He won the local Siren Lure at six and one-half furlongs April 10, and shipped to Kentucky and landed the place at 40-1 odds in the Twin Spires Turf Sprint (G2) May 6. Juan Hernandez rides this time and he should be forwardly placed in a race lacking front end speed.
No. 1 Burnin Turf (9-5) captured his last three local starts including back-to-back sharp turf wins at this distance. Drayden Van Dyke was aboard for two of those wins and he will probably stalk from the inside post.
No. 6 Kanderel (4-1) had an uncomfortable trip and was probably a short horse in his Siren Lure Stakes return April 10. The late runner went last-to-first in the 2021 Siren Lure and will try to make a stretch run under his new rider Umberto Rispoli.
