Saturday's Best Bet: Sharp Starr the leading lady in Go for Wand

Saturday’s 6th race from Aqueduct is the Grade 3 Go for Wand Handicap for fillies and mares traveling one mile on the main track (Post Time - 2:07 p.m. ET).

#3 SHARP STARR (3-2) exits a huge win vs. New York-bred foes as the strong favorite. Will she be able to run that kind of number against graded foes? This race did not come up particularly strong and the sophomore filly cruised in both starts at one mile in New York. Jose Ortiz knows her well and she projects a stalking trip.

#1 Nonna Madeline (4-5) has the top class ratings and this is a good spot for Todd Pletcher’s filly. She captured a pair of minor stakes races this year and figures to chase from the rail just like she did in a runner-up finish in the Added Elegance Stakes at this trip at Gulfstream June 27.

#2 Portal Creek (8-1) is a sharp Parx shipper with speed. Kendrick Carmouche will almost certainly put her on the lead.

Wagers:

#3 to win
