Saturday's Best Bet: Inspector Lynley can win Tampa Bay Stakes again

Saturday's eighth race from Tampa Bay Downs is the Grade 3, $175,000 Tampa Bay Stakes for 4-year-olds and up traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the turf course (Post Time - 3:50 p.m. ET).

#2 INSPECTOR LYNLEY (5-1) won this race in 2017 and will try to get involved late under Jose Ortiz. He needs pace help and racing luck, and he did not get either from post 13 in the Fort Lauderdale (G2) last time.

#4 Qurbaan (3-1) showed nice late interest in all three graded routes in this country. He is back at his winning distance and could easily run past these.

#3 Divisidero (4-1) is a hard trying horse with a decent late kick. He likes this distance and gets a better post today.

#5 Irish Strait (6-1) exits a sharp front running win in his local prep for this. I like his early-pressing versatility and he might try to wire these if #7 Heart to Heart (9-5) fails to make the early lead again. The latter ran well to land the show after a bad start and uncomfortable journey in the Tropical Turf (G3) Jan. 12. He needs to get out of the gate and control the pace if he expects to win this one. I did not like him last time and think he is vulnerable again. He has now dropped four straight and has clearly lost a step at age eight.
