Monday's Best Bet: Spirited Sol is spunky at Presque Isle

Monday’s sixth race from Presque Isle Downs is an optional claiming event for 3-year-olds and up who have never won three races. They will dash six furlongs on the all-weather surface. Scheduled post time is 3:45 p.m. EDT.

No. 3 Spirited Sol (6-1) frequently runs his race at this course and distance. The tactical gelding is sharp and could easily make it two straight local wins.

No. 6 Hammer Lane (9-5) set the pace from the inside post and weakened in the stretch in a local stakes race Sept. 19. He is probably the one to catch.

No. 7 Resist the Devil (7-2) usually finishes in the top three at Presque Isle. This is his winning distance and he probably will stalk the pace from the outside post.

No. 2 Franz Josef (5-2) turns back in distance and should work out a decent stalking trip. He won a longer local sprint July 11 and is winless in six starts at this distance.

No. 3 to win
