Monday's Best Bet: Mercilla gets pace to chase in Parx Fall Oaks

October 06, 2019 06:47pm

Monday’s 8th race from Parx is the $75,000 Parx Fall Oaks for 3-year-old fillies traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time 4:04 p.m. ET).

#11 MERCILLA (8-1) ran well in all three turf starts, and she owns the best overall late pace ratings. She should get pace to chase, and Irad Ortiz Jr. hops aboard for Graham Motion.

#10 Nay Lady Nay (4-1) is a lightly raced filly for Chad Brown. She reconnects with her winning rider Paco Lopez, and I like her stalking speed.

#3 Ionic (10-1) improved her numbers in her first three starts, and she failed to stay the distance in the Virginia Oaks at a mile and an eighth Aug. 31. One mile looks just about right, and she might get first run under Daniel Centeno.

#9 Elsa (3-1) might move forward in her third start after a layoff. She was a G3 winner last year, and has not won in four 2019 outings. She has had some uncomfortable trips in the stakes ranks recently.
