No. 9 Praetorian Guard (5-1) improved his speed ratings in all three local maiden starts. He dueled and edged clear in the slop on Dec. 7, and clear runner-up No. 6 No Confession (6-1) returned to romp in the slop on Jan. 3.
No. 7 Shackinthebox (9-2) invades from Laurel Park. He broke his maiden at this distance on Nov. 4 and raced evenly in a show finish at one mile last time. He figures to stalk outside for a productive jockey-trainer team.
No. 2 Daydreaming Boy (3-1) competed in the stakes ranks in his last pair. He completed the exacta in the Future Stars on Dec. 5 and aired in his local maiden win in the mud on Nov. 1. I am a bit concerned about this extended sprint distance. He misfired in his two attempts at seven panels.
No. 3 Blue Royal (3-1) was dusted by Daydreaming Boy second time out, and he rolled over next-out winner Praetorian Guard last time. He should impact the pace.
