No. 6 TEDDY'S BARINO (3-1) was the beaten favorite in her local turf return April 3. It is possible that she needed her first outing in more than eight months, and she might be better on dirt based on her Fleet Treat Stakes speed rating at Del Mar last summer.
No. 5 Nora’s Princess (8-1) broke slow from the rail and rallied wide for the win in her local dirt sprint bow for the productive Hernandez/Lewis team April 15. Her barn shows a profit with recent grads trying winners for the first time and with allowance starters.
No. 8 Li’l Grazen (12-1) is a veteran mare with a good overall record, but she has lost her winning spirit. Ruben Alvarado claimed her for $12.5k March 12 and she rallied for the show for her new connections in a similar local sprint April 16. Ramon Vazquez has been winning races with this barn recently.
No. 7 Smoothlikebuttah (5-1) just loves earning minor awards. She is 1-for-27 with fourteen minor placings. She keeps alternating between sprints and routes, and keeps chugging along for a share regardless of distance. I will key her underneath again.
