Friday's Best Bet: Storm Prophet back with state breds at Aqueduct

January 04, 2019 10:49am
Friday's seventh race from Aqueduct is an optional claiming event for New York-bred 4-year-olds and up traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track (Post Time - 3:59 p.m. ET).

#7 STORM PROPHET (5-2) received a freshening after a disappointing try against open allowance company in a productive course/distance affair Nov. 14 (top two finishers next-out winners). Two of his three wins were at Aqueduct, and he landed the place in two of three outings at this distance. Junior Alvarado has been winning races with Linda Rice recently, and an outside stalking trip is expected. He captured his last two starts against state-bred company.

#6 Singapore Trader (5-2) is 2-for-2 at Aqueduct, and he looked good dusting local flat mile state bred rivals Nov. 30. He was a competitive third in his lone attempt at this distance and figures to stalk the pace under Manny Franco.

#5 Gio d’Oro (9-5) might be able to steal this one if #1 Playthatfunnymusic (8-1) cannot go with him early. He always finishes in the top three, but both of his wins were on wet tracks. A fast track is expected Friday.

The Plays:

#7 to win

Exacta 7/5-6

Exacta 5-6/7
