Friday’s 6th race from Del Mar is an optional claiming event for California-bred 3-year-olds and up traveling one mile on the turf course (Post Time 6:08 p.m. ET).
#5 FIRST PREZ (4-1) stumbled at the start and rallied wide to graduate in his turf sprint debut at Santa Anita Oct. 23. He got pace help that day and Umberto Rispoli stays put.
#3 Sea of Liberty (5-1) won back-to-back flat mile turf races at Santa Anita earlier this year and has burned me more than once since. His new rider Edwin Maldonado might try to get him in the race earlier and he is capable of competing with these on his best day.
#6 Fly To Mars (7-2) stretches back out and reconnects with his winning rider Flavien Prat. He was good in 2018, missed all of 2019, and failed to crack the top three in a trio of starts this year.
#1 Rustic Canyon (5-2) is entered for the $20k tag because he cleared this level at Santa Anita Oct. 3. A ground saving stalking trip is expected and he is a win contender if he duplicates his last.
#5 to win
