Friday's Best Bet: Caribou Club should be finishing fast in Eddie D

September 27, 2018 10:43pm

Friday’s sixth race from Santa Anita Park is the Grade III, $100,000 Eddie D Stakes for 3-year-olds and up dashing six and one-half furlongs on the downhill turf course.

#2 Caribou Club (6-1) might be the best late threat, and he figures to offer value for Proctor. In his last ten starts, he has sprinted twice on turf, and he won both of those races (downhill sprint last fall, G2 Connaught Cup at WO June 2).

#8 Conquest Tsunami (5-2) was outstanding in a pair of downhill wins earlier this year, and Prat hops aboard Miller’s fresh front runner.

#3 Stormy Liberal (2-1) exits back-to-back easier than appears nose victories in DMR turf sprints, and he loves the downhill course. Van Dyke typically rides for Proctor, so he probably chose him over Caribou Club.

#9 Touching Rainbows (6-1) owns running style versatility, drew an advantageous post, and exits an encouraging 3rd in the Green Flash at DMR.
