his quarter crack in the left front foot is now believed to be managable. he ran against isnt he clever last sunday in ruidoso on firt for 8.5F. he threw a shoe out of the gate and still won the race with a 105 equibase speed figure. the most amazing thing is that the dirt didnt pack into the crack and split it all the way to the hair like it usually does. the metal bar were using to keep the crack together appears to be working. never before has he thrown a shoe and not split his hoof all the way up into the nerve. i would prefer to give jaycito 2 months between races but the trainer wants to see how he will bandle the sunray handicap for $75k. if he doesnt do well there then he gets 2 months off between all future races in order to give him full time to feel 100% with his hoof. despite what you guys on here think this horse still loves to run and he will continue to run until we see he has no heart for it or we see that its in the best interest of his health to stop it. his last race again proves that he can run against big horses and still compete and win. however im sure you guys have no respect for nm race tracks so u are entitled to your opinions.
got a bad ride in the mine that bird derby from the 1 slot. worked with blinkers on and finally sprinted the straight away. anxious to se how he does in the sunland derby next sunday
Lk, heres the news on jaycito. We found he couldnt breathe back in september so we operated on him. He came back and was a new horse. The guy loves to run. We had him slated for the zia park championship but cold weather had the track shut down n he missed too many days of racing. So we shipped him to sunland to continue training him to get him back into shape. We entered him into his first race for us and he did amazing. Out of the gate he threw a shoe and still got 4th. Yesterday in the winsham lad he lost due to our lack of knowledge. On the last turn ry was running him on the inside when the entire pack closed on him. He flipped out and backed out of the encroaching crowd. He was sitting in 3rd place and fell back to second to last. After the pack loosened up on the straight away he blew through the pack to make up almost 10 lengths and took 3rd. Next time were putting some blinkers on him and are going to run him on the outside. If we had done that this race he would have easily taken the race. Im not thinking jaycito will loose again and his training is showing hes getting stronger and stronger with every race. I really think this horse is still a great horse and he loves to run.
yes i do own him
jaycito has been running with the top sprint horse at the track. however when he tried to run long he would just die. we finally picked up on his lack of oxygen and pin pointed the problem. he had a big ulcer in his throat. the vet said he was severely limited on oxygen. surgey was very successful and he is fine. expectations are very high that we have a very serious race horse on our hands. he may be running in the veterans stakes at zia park in two weeks and yes justin evans is his trainer. he will definitely be in the zia park championship at the end of november. im anxiously awaiting.
