I , myself wasn't referring to an eclipse award. I was simply stating he is the only one that has held consistent form this year. I know he won't get the award.
He is the most consistent. 7 races, 5 different tracks- 1 off the board finish. He always tries. I don't think he handled the Monmouth mud all that well that day. I'm not saying anything about an eclipse award, just that when talking consistent 3 yr old male- he's it.
He was 3rd in the KY Derby
Connect, GR, WAD, MMS, AS, NY, EX, Cupid, SRev, DL, SR, HIOM... Final time 1:50.20
GR has consistently been over looked all year long. One of the less talked about, he has quietly been going about his business being consistent more than anyone else in his division.
Gun Runner is the most consistent 3 year old male we have. Doesn't duck competition, and has only been off the board once this year.
In a race like this, it often does come down to a jockey race. JC isn't a top jock for nothing. Dream trip trip for Connect, yes, but he still ran a great race. I would've said it even if he'd finished 2nd. As far as Gun Runner absolutely heartbreak of a loss, because he was much the best here with that ground loss. However, nothing to be ashamed of because he ran one heck of a race. I remember watching him in person win the Louisiana Derby. Knew he was going to become a good horse that day.
There is no clear cut 3 year old male eclipse contender. They are all kinda meh.
Wow. Connect was my 2nd choice. Nice race for the top 2 finishers- Gun Runner ran one heck of a race. Nothing from Nyquist or Exaggerator.
That would be a bold move if so for a filly has never faced older. And at that distance so early in the year.
