When evaluating this horse I believe you have to look at his competition also. Finishing closely behind the likes of Ocho Ocho Ocho and Bolo, and winning off like he did, can only portend good things to come from this runner.
Agree with you Brian. Was hoping we'd get 3-1 + on Power Broker but not so sure. You're letting the cat out of the bag early on the Cali juveniles.
Terrific article Brian. You've got every right to be nervous and sleepless. There's a reason we haven't had a TC winner in over 30 years... its a tremendously difficult feat to achieve. If U.R. reports and works are good pre-Belmont, I worry about him most. I hear all the digs about the Dixie Union lite pedigree and Dialed In comparisons. Think they're way off. Believe he has morse distance stamina in running lines than most think. He'll be tough.
Have little doubt that Mark Valeski is a good horse. But the incident is brushing when seen from the head-on. Actually, El Padrino should have won by more IMO as he was turning his head toward the grandstand and only switched leads in the last 50 yards. Anyways, stewards made the right call.
Asking because I hear he has a bruised heel so wondering how he's doing and how much of another setback this may be before we see him run again.
Floridaf, any word on Ever So Lucky's current condition? Thx.
Respect your opinions Brian. The Derby road is tough, sometimes treacherous. Now to the first Saturday in May an eternity for horse(s), trainer(s), owner(s). Union Rags if he can stay healthy may be a super star. And with Dixie Union on the topside will have his doubters. I believe he's the real deal if he can stay healthy. As a bettor though, I'll always wait til I see the field and post positions before putting down the big bucks.
