Wow! What great breeding!
Animal Kingdom had an eye catching move on the poly at TP and went on to immolate the dirt at CD....could the Great War be on track to do likewise?
The Great War looked pretty much the best in the 96Rock at TP and he'll probably blow out the rest of them Saturday in the John Battaglia too, except maybe for Firespike, the Flower Alley baby, but you never know.
OK so Interntional Star and War Story seem bright on the horizon with perhaps " less than stellar" being the phrase most applicable to Its a Knockout and Upstart! So who do you like for the Southwest today? Who will emerge from Oak lawn as a potential Derby horse after Sunday afternoon?
I just have to cheer for the relations of one of my all time faves Animal Kingdom!
Go Bold Animaux!
Love the ancestry back to Victory Gallop too!
I am sad that JS Bach is out with a fever. It would have made the contest more honest to have him in there......as it is though I like Imperia over Keen Ice or International Star and I'll go with that.....go Imperia!
Here is the quote that seals the deal for me...."Itsaknockout is a half-brother to the multiple stakes winning miler Storm Power (Tiz Wonderful). "......that plus I love love love the Cherokee Run and Lemon Drop Kid connexion....loved both of those horses from years past! Seems like IAKO will be good at the mile mark and like Lemon and Cherokee be able to push through to the longer distances.
I liked Animal Kingdom after the Spiral and had him at the Derby. I liked I'll Have Another all along in California, but esp after the SA, and had him in the Derby. I had a small bet on CC just as a hedge but I really didn't think he would do it.
So I guess we can toss International Star and Upstart for the Derby Win, eh?
