Funny, Preakness 2005 was my favorite race of all time as well. Not because I am an avid fan of horse racing, or was at the time, but because I was there, drunk as a skunk, and almost threw away my $5 exacta on the 12-5. The Preakness began lie any other I had attended in college, pints of Jim Beam to kick off the morning and letting the neighbor kids carry all of our booze in by shopping cart. After drinking all day, and placing bets here and there on the Preakness (not know what even exactly how to bet), I had accumulated about 30 different tickets. Watching from the infield on the jumbotron, the race finished without updating the order of horses at the bottom of the screen. Within seconds, in a drunken dramatic scene, I kept the one ticket that had won (which I was disappointed in) and tossed the rest up in the air. Upon trying to cash my ticket at the window, the teller says "he isn't the winner." A nearby woman said the 12 won. I almost blew chunks right then and there. I knew I had something in my hand earlier that was a winner, but I wasn't sure exactly. In a drunken stupor, my soon to be wife, her friends, and my friends searched the littered Pimlico infield where I thought I remembered I was standing. There was no way to possibly find any of these winning tickets. After 10 minutes and countless times saying "Na, Im pretty sure I was right here," I was the won to find my almost $400 ticket. To this day, I believe I probably had the trifecta and some win tickets on Afleet Alex. My mom's name is Alex and I bet her all day. I also like the name Scrappy-T. Going into the day I didn't know he won the Derby or that Jeremy Rose had ridden him. He's all the reason I put a $20 win on Texas Red in the BC Juvenile. Today, Im much more knowledgeable about the sport and love following it this time of the year.
NEWS BREAKER!!!I heard Hansen wasn't running in the Preakness. NO BRAINER ALERT!!! They're going to shoot for the Woody.
Do you think CC's walking has something to do with his broken shoe during the trip over?
Totally agree. It's time Joel Rosario shows everyone who's the boss!!!
