The classic distance unfortunately is becoming a lost art. Plus this distance allows for really good horses like frosted, Runhappy, Dortmund etc to run in and have a shot to be very competitive. I can't wait to see a frosted and chrome in this as I think this is the spot where frosted gives him a run for his money
Dubai is halfway across the world and almost no American horses go. This was a great idea and I can't wait to see the first edition
So that it can attract as many top level horses as possible such as frosted, Runhappy, Dortmund, etc. who will be a lot more competitive at this distance than at 10f. Not every good horse can compete at 10f. Plus this opens the doors for females like stellar wind or songbird to contest against males in a big race at a distance they are more likely to beat them at.
Can someone explain the sale and insurance?
As much as I love and respect songbird- stellar wind deserves to be the favorite for the distaff. Stellar wind has put away beholder twice now- which doesn't mean that beholder has lost a step- it just means stellar wind is as good as I thought she was. A lot of people are handing the distaff to songbird but stellar wind is one nice horse. She cannot be overlooked- she ran second in last years edition after a horribly wide trip and questionable contact in the stretch, she has run two great races to beat beholder in very fast times and also proving she has heart and will to win. I think she will be close to the pace to not let songbird get away now that she has proven she isn't a one dimensional deep closer. As much as I love chrome- I am most looking forward to the distaff race out of all in this years breeders cup
Did I hear they are supplementing him to the BCC correctly? Yikes I hope not- the poor horse may finish dead last- the Santa Anita track does not play kindly to closers or plodders/grinders. Just ask Tonalist and Hoppertunity
I'm sorry when have I called frosted a miler? Oh that's right- never.
What I have said are stone cold facts. I have said frosted is best below or above 10f. I have said his worst distance is 10f. I have said he has not been competitive at 10f as he has at less than 10f and at 12f. I have called keen ice a plodder since before the Belmont. Plodders and grinders run best at 12f but don't always get up in time for the win which is exactly what happens to keen ice. Frosted plods in almost every 10f race he's run in which is why he's not successful. He doesn't run the same as he does in shorter route races. He showed an incredible kick in the pa derby, Dubai World Cup prep race, met mile, and even the whitney. I thought he wa sjust a closer but he proved that wrong by winning on the lead in the whitney.
So I'll take that apology now since you clearly are wrong about what I've said and what I think
I'm thinking maybe we see sub 1.59. Chrome will be unleashed like we've never seen before
