The crazy part is: If he sweeps the triple crown, shared belief will be shut out of horse of the year two years in a row regardless of if he comes back after his injury to win the classic.
I agree with Shug- I think Honor Code ran so poorly last out because of the Chruchill track. Lots of talented horses didn't run well that day. HC does love Belmont and he would have won the Champagne had he not had to go 8-9 wide on the last turn. I will not be surprised if he wins- he is such a talented guy and he can really close well with the speed in this race. I will not be surprised if he loses either because I think Tonalist is unbeatable at Belmont- one turn or not. Look for this to be one great race- a true grade one! I love that no one is ducking anyone this year- it seems to be the trend!
As much as I love Honor Code I just don't see anyone beating Tonalist at belmont. Private zone is tough but HC has beaten him once already. Tonalist to hold off a fast closing Honor Code with PZ holding off Pm for third. I expect wicked strong to finish up the track, he just doesn't seem like the same horse unfortunately. Bayern is the questionable one. I honestly can't choose where he will finish as he is so on dimensional and he is up against too many good horses
I think he has more going for him than against him. He has crushed almost everyone in the Belmont, or crushed horses that crushed them. He had a light campaign before the derby which sets him up well for not being over raced. He won both classics so far pulling away at the wire with ears pricked so don't think distance is a problem for him. He has excellent form and motion with little to no wasted energy, he is a soeed horse who can rate, he can win on any track type- fast or sloppy, and he is a classy horse. The only horses that makes me nervous of upsetting his bid are Frosted and Materiality but Frosted hasnt shown me he can dominate this crop consistently and Materiality may not stay once he is challenged by Pharoah's speed and stamina. My long shot is Mub as I think he has talent but had an off day in the derby. Plenty of practicd over the Belmont track along with him already being proven at longer distances makes him a big threat as well.
LOL Sullivan I was just thinking the same thing. He has an excuse for every race. The horse one needs a break then two needs to stick to G two and threes
Sullivan I feel you and agree with you somewhat. What I don't agree with is not wanting to root for AP. The horse has done nothing wrong and is a magnificent animal. It is not his fault who his owners are. I felt worse about I'll have another not wanting him to win because I couldn't stand his connections so much. But not every trainer can be Michael Matz likable and not every owner can be that either. Or every jockey for that matter. I am not the biggest fan of Victor either- I would much rather it be Gary or Johnny V but it is what it is. And I love this those so much I want it for him, for everyone to say he couldn't to finally say 'I was wrong'
Can someone explain to me (nicely) why Baffert is keeping Pharoah ar Churchill instead of bringing him to bekmont? Isn't it smarter to get him used to the belmont track? Especially when they said he didn't take to or like Churchill?
Also can someone explain to me why jockeys don't wear mikes anymore?
Due to the new site I did not see those responses. But thanks for the polite info update I was not aware but am now
Makes sense I guess since they own both dam and sire. At least we will get to see him race again if he does win it and at least he is staying in the US!
Hey cocoa. I don't see you much anymore. It's good to see your comments again
