Most loved - Penny Chenery and Christie Grisham. Most hated - more than one - Rick Dutrow, Charles Ford from Many. LA (having many horse starve to death, including yearlings, others were rescued in January who were severely underweight), the Asmussen family (sending 10 mares to a kill auction, some who allegedly had foals this spring, 9 of the 10 weren't pregnant which I'm sure is why they did that, not to mention the doping done by both brothers).
Sorry stupid computer glitched on me.
Brian, I agree with you. This horse, when crossing the finish line, was still moving forward & away from the tiring pack. The only horse I think might have a chance with him is Alpha (I can't not include him, seeing how Bernardini is his sire and Bernardini has a lot of successful foals racing now). I love Union Rags, but I think the distance will be too far for him. As for your Big Brown comment, I don't think it was the horse himself that made you root against him, I think it was his obnoxious connections (Ivarone & Dutrow), as well as his horrible hooves.
I just don't see Hansen winning the Wood, nor do I see him winning the Derby. Union Rags is going to be a major factor and there are several sleepers right now who I think are going to be a factor as well. Hansen got seriously lucky in the BC Juvenile race, UR ran a much longer race and if he would've had another stride, would've defeated Hansen. People are down on Alpha right now, but really, who did Hansen beat in the Gotham? Both Alpha & Hansen are taking the road of least resistance to the Derby, which is fine. To write off ANY Bernardini foal is foolish, IMHO, seeing as Bernardini is passing his greatness along better than almost any other sire. My Derby pick right now is UR, followed by any foal of Bernardini. Hansen hasn't proven anything to me thus far. That may change after the Wood.
Thanks, Brian!! Currently, they are trying to get both Charles Ford & Bill Young's licenses revoked in Louisiana & Texas, where they race & train. It will cost the rescue groups $450 a day per horse for their care and it will be several months before these horses will be ready to be put up for adoption.
