I agree rafi, people are discreditng him because of his margin of victory. He warded off two massive challanges and still held on, going 1 1/8th for the first time and at Aqueduct for the first time. He rated, and he showed his grit. This was a perfect guttings et up for the derby. I am not saying he will win but I do love his form going intot the derby and his versatility. This years derby should produce a very special horse with all of these upcoming, in form horses going into the race. I think the winner will be a very special colt.
I didn't even give her a chance with a week layoff. Man, she looked good.
DOJ, Beholder, Midnight Lucky, Unlimitied Budget, and closed hatches...with Princess of Sylmar all thrown together in one race? Man this is going to be one heck of a Kentucky Oaks.
He will be fighting with other speed horses such as: Freedom Child, and Verrazano ( although I hope he takes back). He wont have the lead to himself, and he will not win the Wood Memorial.
Watchout for freedom child. Might be a good longshot to bet.
I really feel like because of the new points system, and the way the field is shaping up to be full of widespread amazing quality. That, we will see a truly great horse spring from the years derby. A maturing horse who is prepared for the distance, maybe this new points system will have an effect on the Triple Crown drought. We will see.
Looks like Midnight Lute might be a pretty influential distance sire. His offspring seem to handle atleast 1 1/8 no problem. Im glad they can route.
Arkansas Derby: War Academy, Dens Legacy. SA Derby: Flashback, Super 99, Power Broker Wood: Tiz the Truth
