I spent 35 minutes on pedigreequery ;) Back to exam studying I go.
Native Dancer and Dark Star
I totally agree with you. I always liked him better for the dirt mile rather than the Classic. However, if he does well at 10 furlongs in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, I don't think they should rule out the Classic for Cross Traffic. I am overjoyed with his win yesterday - those two losses earlier this year were phenomenal efforts - and I believe he has a world of potential.
If he runs like he did in the Futurity, he and Revolutionary will be dangerous. It seems to be the year of the O's, too - Orb - Oxbow - Overanalyze?
Love the pictures! I got sucked into the Orb hype, I will admit. Oxbow had been on my radar for a while but I wasn't willing to accept that any horse could win the Preakness besides Orb. It will be fun to see their matchup in three weeks!
Nice one! Would never have nailed that one down so quickly.
Good deal. I think this horse is just coming into his own. Too bad he's done with racing after this year - hope he makes it a good one!
It's Orb. Oxbow is a great horse but won the Preakness off of a lead that was basically handed to him. Orb's patented outside running style was impacted when he ran into trouble on the far turn. After that, he lost all momentum and steam but still put in a good run to finish fourth. He'll be dangerous in the Belmont again. He's the best colt of the crop; I'm not quite sure how the fillies stack up against the boys this year. In some aspects, like time, they look even better.
