An amazing horse and great race!! Congratulations to Gary Stevens and all her connections.
Good race! Great to see her back. Looking forward to them meeting up.
Congratulations to you both! Have a wonderful time Saturday.
Mike, I sent Eric Mitchell an email just now. I will let you know if I hear from him. I made the best case I could possibly make.
I will look every night from now on. It's really a great site. Brian Zipse does a first rate job. Plus, i see familiar names :).
I totally agree Mike. I think she is a little over her head int this one.
Exactly the right outcome. I could not be happier! California Chrome and his connections are so deserving.
A very rough year for losses. It is good to see them remembered in this way.
A number system might work but the one above would need to be tweaked. For instance, if a horse won 2 legs of the 3 Triple Crown races, and it could be any two, the second race should be weighted higher because of the closeness of the races. If a horse should win all 3 (yes, I know I am dreaming) then it's over and that horse wins HOTY. Here is the problem though with a point system, it takes out the intangibles that cannot be factored in by a point system. For example, the increase in viewing/fan base when horses like Zenyatta, Rachel and California Chrome are on the radar. They captured the imagination of the public. But how do you quantify that with a point system or the feel good story behind the breeding and training of California Chrome, the Cinderella horse of the past 5 years? How do you weight 19 wins in a row over several years as in Zenyatta's case? The only way to factor them in is to not have a point system. So, I think it should be left alone. Usually, the voters get it right.
